Full Line Up Announced for Fordingbridge Coronation Picnic in the ParkFree community event on the 7th of May, Fordingbridge Recreation Ground


Fordingbridge Events Group and Fordingbridge Town Council have announced the full line-up for the Coronation Big Picnic event, which will take place on the 7th of May from 2:30pm to 10pm to celebrate the King’s Coronation & to mark the 100th anniversary of the Recreation Ground.

The picnic is free to attend and free parking for the Sunday in the town car parks has been confirmed by the New Forest District Council. Additionally, there will be free car parking at the event managed by Fordingbridge Rotary Club.

The family event has been organised by the Fordingbridge Events Group volunteers with members of the town council with the aim of creating an event organised by the community for the whole community.


What’s on?

A ceremony to mark the 100th anniversary of the Recreation ground will take place at 2:30pm with the help of the Town Cryer, and then from 3pm, the picnic will take place on Fordingbridge Recreation Ground. There will be various entertainment including fairground rides, slides and bouncy castles which has been made possible thanks to the Town Council and Fordingbridge Events Group who received a grant from the County Council. There will also be live music performed all day by a variety of different bands with the headliner being paid for by a local resident as a gift to the town.

Although there will be food and drink available on site, everyone is welcome to bring their own picnics and drinks to join in the fun! Please note, portable BBQs or open fires are not permitted on the recreation ground.

At 6pm, the town’s beacon, which was installed last summer at the Jubilee picnic, and which was paid for by local businesses, will also be lit.
