Record Visitors for 2018 Fordingbridge Festival

Fordingbridge Events Group today announces that the Fordingbridge Festival, which took place at the Fordingbridge Recreation Ground on the 21st of July 2018, had a record number of visitors.

Nicky Jenkins, Chair of the Fordingbridge Events Group, says: “The feedback we have received has been overwhelmingly positive. We had 5,000 people come to the festival on Saturday and have received fantastic comments and praise from residents, stallholders and the local businesses in town. We are collating it all for our washup meeting so that the committee can see what worked and what we can improve on for next year.

“We are thrilled that it was such a great day. The team has worked incredibly hard for the past five months to put on this large event, with a great variety of acts. To receive such praise and thanks for keeping the festival going and to get recognition for that hard work has made everyone on the committee immensely proud.”

Festival goers were treated to a variety of displays including Fordingbridge Fire and Rescue, heavy horse obstacle racing, a tractor pull, a tug of war as well live music, countryside skills, dog events and a kids’ zone. Plus, in attendance were over 60 stalls, 65 classic cars and other vintage vehicles.

Nicky continues: “We were aiming to bring the community together with our festival. As well as the activities going on over at the recreation ground, we had terrific support from local businesses for the raffle. Feedback from the local shops has also been incredibly positive as they were busy on Saturday too, which is great for our beautiful town.

“Now, we are already in the planning stages for our Christmas activities. As we had such a successful turnout on Saturday, we have the resources to make this even more exciting than in previous years. We can also look to see what else we might be able to do for our local community and that will be part of our wash up discussions.”
